Harvest and making bread

During our topic Festivals and Celebrations, Elm class learned about Harvest and where our food comes from. We looked at corn and made yummy bread!

Gymnastics

During the Autumn term we have been doing Gymnastics which included a workshop where we used lots of the equipment!

Christmas activities

In Elm class we have been busy making stockings and sweets and many other things during the run up to Christmas.

Elm class visit to The Parrett Works

On the 19th of July, Elm class visited The Parrett works near Martock. They learnt about the old mill that used to make many different types of goods They also saw how the River Parrett powered the mill using a large water wheel and the importance of managing a river.

Elm, Willow and Ash classes big boat launch

Elm class had a week of exploring boats where we researched, designed, made, tested and evaluated. The children were given a challenge for their boat to carry a load of 200g. Elm class joined Ash class and Willow class to launch their boats in the swimming pool.

The Kingfisher Awards Presentation Picnic

After weeks of preparation, Elm class went to Home Farm in Curry Rivel for the presentation and judging of their display. As well as presenting their hard work and looking at the other school's displays, they also enjoyed listening to a storyteller and making willow sculptures. The children did fantastically well and received second place and 5 orchard trees as their prize.

Lyme Regis Trip

On the 9th of June Elm, Willow and Beech classes went to Lyme Regis for the day. We went to the Lifeboat Station, The Marine Aquarium and enjoyed making sand sculptures on the sandy beach to support our topic about 'Water'.

Kingfisher Award Scheme

Elm Class have been invited to take part in the Kingfisher Award Scheme. They have visited a local farm where they investigated local Habitats. On Tuesday, 12th July from 16:00 there will be a presentation of Kingfisher Awards which will take place at a farm in Curry Rivel and will feature school displays, a picnic and a Green Clown.
