Kingsbury Episcopi School Council 2010/11

Here is our School Council. We meet regularly to discuss issues that affect the school. Our aim is to discuss ideas and suggestions that will help improve and develop the school in different ways. So far the School Council has sorted out several problems,such as improving playtimes and writing new whole school 'Golden Rules'.

1.School Playground rules
Regarding school equipment it was suggested that it should be split and have one class per day. Fair play games-need to have rules and try to stick to them as children are not too sure of them. It was suggested that also during the winter months chn can bring in their wellies to use the field-obv not for running games.

Need to promote the friendship bench more as chn are not sure about it and do not use it.
Will be discussed in each class and report back in the next meeting in two weeks. All

2.Playground Equipment
Mr Higgins has met with house captains and it was put forward that the £200 bag should be obtained for the school. The shed on the playground will just be used for equipment to be used on the playground. Playground leaders will be responsible for the bag and for distriburtion of equipment during playtimes.

It was suggested that the football goals be taken off the field and cricket be played. It was agreed that this should happen as soon as possible.

Also rounders should be introduced as a mini competition between each class-a bit like a round robin competition.
The £200 bag will be bought. WH

3. Wrong Trouser Day
Violet has put forward that the school have a Wrong Trouser Day on Friday 1 July. The money raised will be for childrens hospital and hospices.

£1 donation if you are interested. Also a cake sale will be after school.
To be put into the newsletter and will feed back to class.

2. Improving playtime- more balls. Everybody key stage should play football on specific days (need to investigate as we did have one already in place). More equipment to play with-water fountain on the field, being able to adjust the water pressure on the water fountain as seen in Hambridge school. Use the gazebo as a quiet area e.g for reading, board games etc. More pumps for balls. Updating the playground Notice Rules. Suggested that there was a competition to design the playground notice rules. Once chosen these posters will be made up and displayed around the playground.

No skidding during playtimes as children are going into class with extremely dirty trousers.

3. RED NOSE DAY:

MINI GAMES:

Will be done from 3:30-4:00

These games will be run and be organised by the School Council. Letter will be sent home to parents suggesting the idea and perhaps a change of clothes should be brought in.
Posters to be made and put up.
Competition for best Junk Monster/Recycled Monster/Pirate/Clown
Prizes to be decided.
Suggested games so far:
Flour red nose bobbing instead of the conventional apple bobbing.
Obstacle course

Tokens for games.
Ideas from classes to be discussed in class and then brought to the next meeting.
