Newsletter Summer 2011 (2)

Welcome back and I hope you all had a wonderful half term! This term is going to be very busy.

New Classes
It seems incredible that we are already thinking about making decisions on next years classes. As you can appreciate, this is not an easy task when we have 5 classes and 7 year groups. It is always hard to split a year group but it is inevitable and it is to be expected that every child will not move to a new class every year. We are lucky to have consistently good teaching throughout the school and all classes have different abilities within them, which means our lessons are well differentiated. The staff and the governors have agreed on a policy which looks at four criteria which aims and provides the most benefit for the greatest number of pupils:

1. Date of birth
2. Class Size
3. Educational and Social needs
4. Twins or other siblings.

We will inform the children of their new class on Friday 17th June.

The teachers and I will be happy to talk about any concerns or questions you may have, but please remember that all the teachers have the welfare of your children at heart and teach according to their needs, whichever class they are in.

Music Tuition
If your child will miss a music lesson due to being on a school trip please can you give JBs Music Tuition advance notice or you may be charged for the missed lesson! Jonny's number is 07729 270841

The 'Wrong Trousers' Day-Fri July 1st
Don your wackiest trousers, Violet Carthew - Ware and the School Council are raising vital funds for sick kids in children's hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. For a £1 donation you can come to school wearing colourful shorts or skirts, maybe even your pyjama bottoms. The top half will still be your normal school uniform just to make it look more 'Wrong'.

Clubs
Clubs will continue as per the schedule we sent out last term and as on our website. Additionally we will run a swimming club for KS2 on Tuesday in place of the cycling club run by Mrs Crisp. Please complete the attached slip if you are interested, places are limited to 20 children (if more apply then names will be drawn from a hat). The summer term is very busy with classes going on trips and teachers taking teams to tournaments etc. It may be necessary to cancel a club for week. We will inform the children and text you at least a couple of days in advance wherever possible.

Slips need to be in on Monday as the club starts on 14th June 2011.

Vouchers for School
A big thank you for all of the vouchers that you have been collecting for items for school. We had over 11,500 Tesco vouchers which will buy us a new digital camera. We are hoping to send them off next week so please bring any remaining vouchers in as soon as possible. Thank you once again.

KS1 Multi Skills
On Wednesday 8th June at Long Sutton Recreation Ground Year 1 and 2 children took part, along with other local primary schools, in a KS1 Multiskills Festival. There was a variety of activities throughout the morning and the children worked in teams with their own friends and children from other schools.

A big 'Well Done' to our play leaders who helped run the event. They were a credit to our school which was commented on by other schools and the organisers.
