Dear Parents
Mufti Day and Cake Sale - Friday 12th November
We will be having a mufti day and cake sale on Friday 12th November to help towards the cost of a performance of 'Sleeping Beauty' which will be staged in the School Hall by M&M Productions on Tuesday 16th November. Children may wear their own clothes for the day if they bring £1. A cake sale will be held at 3.30pm and we would be grateful for any donations of cakes which should be brought into school in the morning.
Wear Something Spotty!
Friday 19th November is 'Children in Need'. We are going to have a 'Wear Something Spotty' day. Children can come to school wearing something spotty this can be socks, jumpers, trousers or even accessories. However, as it is cold please remember that your child will have to spend the day wearing the item! We are asking that children make a £1 donation to help support this worthy cause.
PE Kit
Please could you ensure that children have their full PE kit in school all week. Also a reminder that the blue PE polo shirts are not for use as school PE kit but should only be used for team sports events.
PTA Twinkly Shopping Evening
The PTA are holding their Twinkly Shopping Evening on Wednesday 17th November from 19:00-21:00. The children will be bringing home raffle tickets to sell in advance and every child who sells £5 worth of raffle tickets will be rewarded with a small treat! They are also asking for donations from parents for the cake stall.
Leaving Collection
If you would like to make a contribution to a leaving gift for Mrs Weinel, please hand it in to the Office as soon as possible.
Headteacher's Commendation
At the end of the school term we are going to be awarding children from each class a Headteacher's Commendation for consistently working hard in certain areas of the curriculum. This will be awarded at the end of the Christmas Service at St Martins Church. Parents will be sent notification of the award prior to the service.
Pre-School Extension
While the Pre-School extension work is being carried out, the side pathway will be closed and access to the school playground at the moment will be through the main gate in the car park, please be aware of pedestrians entering the school. With this in mind, could you please refrain from parking anywhere near the yellow zig-zag area outside the school. The local Police have been asked to make regular patrols of the area to assist in ensuring the safety of the children.
Also, a gentle reminder, that if you are parking in the disabled bays, please ensure you clearly display your blue badge.
Wake and Shake
As you may have seen, as part of the reworking of the school curriculum, the school day now starts with a Wake and Shake routine. The aim of this is increase the children's heart rate and help them to start the day re-energised and in a state of readiness to learn. As soon as the bell rings and the staff take responsibility for the children parents are then free to leave or stay and watch or take part in the routine.
Consent Slips
For all out of school events it is important that consent slips are returned by the date requested. This ensures that we have the correct number of children and suitable travel arrangements can be organised. If we do not receive consent then sadly your child will be unable to attend.
Free School Meal Eligibility
It has now become much easier to check whether you may be eligible to claim Free School Meals. Even if you don't wish to take up the option for the meals your eligibility also entitles your child(ren) to funding for out of school activities/clubs. If you feel you may be eligible then please call Somerset Direct 0845 345911 and they will quickly be able to check for you.
