Welcome back to school after our long summer break. The children all look 'well rested' and smart, ready for the new school year. I would like to start by thanking everyone for making me feel so welcome in my first week, I think it will take a while to get to know everyone, although I will be in the playground at the start and end of each day so please come and say hello. Also we would like to welcome our new children and their parents. We hope you will be very happy in our school community and assure you of our best intentions for your child(ren) at all times. Please do not hesitate to call in if you are unsure about any aspect of your child's education. I am very much looking forward to working with you all.
A list of important dates for the term is included with this Newsletter together with a 2010/11 academic year calendar with INSET dates marked.
Start of the day
Please remember that school cannot take responsibility for your child(ren) until 08:55. If it is raining when you drop your child off then they can go straight into their classrooms (again please try to make this as near to 08:55 as possible). We display either a green or red flag by our picnic tables, if this flag is red then this means that it is too wet to play on the field.
We would be grateful if you could complete a Medicines form available from the School Office if your child needs to bring a Ventolin inhaler to school. Please check that the medication is still in date!
Please be aware we have some pupils in school at present who are highly allergic to nut oil and associated products. Contact with such products can be life threatening for these children, therefore, can I please ask for your reassurance that any products associated with nuts or nut oil are not brought into school.
The weekly bulletin, newsletters and any other school letters which go home are all available to view on our school website.
The PTA AGM will be on Tuesday 5th of October at 3pm in the school hall.
KEPS acknowledges and thanks all parents and helpers of the PTA for the hard work and time given to organising events which help to raise funds for the benefit of all our pupils.
All parents of children attending the school are automatically members of the Parent Teachers Association. The PTA always welcomes new faces to come and help, particularly if they have an area of expertise. Parents don't necessarily have to come to every meeting but if they are able to help at, or organise, an event then it is always appreciated. A variety of fund raising events are held throughout the year.
If you are interested please contact Heidi Dugdale (Sophie, Beech Class and Emily, Elm Class)
Welcome to Mrs Karen Davies, who has joined us to support Ash class. We wish her a warm
welcome and hope that she will be very happy at our school.
If your child is ill and unable to attend school it is vital that you report the absence to the school office as soon as possible and always before 8.45. As a school we have to "chase" reasons for absence as per Government guidelines and therefore we contact you via the first two contact numbers supplied by yourself on data information sheets. Please keep the school office up to date with these contact numbers. This is our only way of ensuring that children are at home with a parent when not able to attend school.
If your child arrives at school after registration (08:55) then they will need to come to the office in the first instance to be marked into the register before joining their class. We fully understand that there may be the odd occasion where this is unavoidable.
School uniform and lost property
There is no longer a lost property 'bin' kept at school. Please ensure that all uniform/lunch boxes etc are named as these can then be returned directly to your child if found. Any uniform not named will be kept as emergency clothing.
After school clubs will be starting on the 20th September - a programme detailing the activities on offer this term will be issued later next week.

As you can see it looks like it is going to be a busy, but enjoyable term. With all the changes happening around the school, I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that our aim is to make things run as smoothly as possible. As before, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher or myself if you have any concerns or comments.
