Newsletter Summer 2011 (1)

It seems amazing to me that we are into our final week before half term but despite being short it has still been very busy.

Sutton Bingham Visit
As you may know by now this terms topic is 'Water'. To launch this Ash and Oak class were fortunate enough to be able to visit Sutton Bingham Reservoir and Water Treatment Works. The children were able to learn about the water cycle, complete nature activities along the banks of the reservoir, use testing kits to discover facts about a range of different water samples and also see how our water is cleaned before it is sent to our homes.

Year 6 SAT's
Year 6 pupils have now taken their National Tests and should be proud of all the hard work and effort they put in this year. Well done!

Our Year 2 National Tests/Tasks 2011 and school assessments for other Year groups will take place later in the Summer Term.

Car Park
Just a reminder that our school car park can get quite busy at the start and end of each school day. Please could you ensure that you enter and exit the car park carefully as it is used by both cars and pedestrians.

June Fair - Friday 10th June
Don't miss the Wild West June Fair - 15.30-18.00. Mufti Day - £1 donation for PTA funds.

Swimming Pool Lettings
The swimming pool is available for private hire during the evenings and at weekends until the end of term. The cost is £11.20 per hour (which includes 12% public liability insurance). To book the pool please telephone: 07881 482461.

Tesco Vouchers
The final date before the collection will be on 22nd June, so please bring in any vouchers you may have as soon as possible.

Head Lice
From time to time head lice can be a problem in school due to close contact between children. It is therefore advisable, at this time of year, to check your child's hair regularly using detection combing and, if necessary, treat using medicated lotions or by wet combing using a specially designed head lice comb. Further information on the detection and treatment of head lice can be found on the NHS website www.nhs.uk

Caretaker
We are very pleased to announce that Steve Dale has now been employed as our new school Caretaker/Cleaner.

Term Dates for 2011-12
Please find attached a calendar of term and INSET dates for 2011-12.

Website
Our new school website is now up and running and we are currently in the process of updating the content. It now has a calendar for all school events for this term, term dates for the next academic year and photographs of all the fun events your child has been taking part in. It is the expectation that from September each class will have their own page which will include children's work, curriculum information and homework.
Please take a look: www.kingsburyepiscopiprimary.co.uk.

Uniform
After looking at the class photos that were taken a few weeks ago I wanted to thank you for always making sure the children look so smart; visitors to the school often comment on how great the children look. Just a reminder that during the summer term the uniform consists of;

* Burgundy school sweatshirt/sweatcardi
* White polo shirt
* Grey school trousers/shorts/plain grey skirt
* Red and white check summer dresses
* Socks: white, black or grey.
* Sensible, dark shoes or flat summer sandals (worn with socks).
