STARTING
SCHOOL
This
page tells you all about life in the reception class: some of
the activities the children will be involved in, and some of
the things that they need to bring to school.
We meet
all the other children in assembly in the morning. We then
have 15 minutes of physical activity. We write, read and count.
We play with sand and water in our garden.
We learn
to use the computers.
After
lunch we draw and paint, and we learn about our world.
We
do lots of craft work, and if it's really messy we need an
apron or old shirt that we have brought from home.
If it
is fine we can use the play equipment.
We do
lots of singing and role play.
At
story time we sit on the carpet to share a story.
At the
end of the day we find all our own things: coat, lunchbox
and book bag, ready to meet our parents in the playground.
Off we
go home to have tea, look at our books, and have a good night's
sleep before our school day begins again with more exciting
activities!
In the
morning we come into the playground with our parents and wait
until the bell is rung. Then we line up to come into school.
We come into our classroom and hang up our coats in the cloakroom.
We all have our own pegs and a place to put our lunchboxes.
These need to be carefully labelled with our names.
At
morning play we eat a healthy snack of fruit or vegetables
that we like. At lunch time we go to the toilet and wash our
hands before we sit down.
We need
a healthy lunchbox to keep us going for the rest of the day.
Playtime
is the time to meet other children and go to the toilet.
